Fletcher 7mm by Josh-Finney Fletcher 7mm by Josh-Finney
This is my take of Molly's "Fletcher" pistol from Willian Gibson's novel, "Neuromancer." This was my first swing at a 100% photo-realistic 3D model.

UPDATE! My version of the fletcher was featured in :iconpollyvinyl: polyvinyl's artpiece
Check it out, Molly!

Even before I read the caption I thought "Molly's fletcher" :)

Awesome! I've been looking into doing a weapon mod for a video game and wanted to do Molly's Gun but wasn't into the pepperbox aesthetic of it. I wanted to remain authentic while still looking cyberpunk but you merged the two rather beautifully. Bravo!

Very interesting. Does it go full auto too?

Yeah, as it was described in the novel Neuromancer the Fletcher 9mm could fire full-auto.

I'm trying to think how this gun would work mechanically. Clearly its a revolver. So its likely got 6 in the chambers. But how to you reload?

Your case-less flechettes look functional. Assuming thats the propellant encasing them.

Yeah. The flechettes are naturally cased in a propellant. As for how the gun is loaded / functions, I've uploaded this graphic: [link]

Cool. look like a gun I buy 20 years form now. There just one thing that make me scratch my head. The gun mounted flashlight looks and awkward. Did you know anything about guns?

Do I know anything about guns? Sure. The idea for a flashlight mount came from Heckler & Koch's USP which can have a laser / flashlight mount.

Sorry for the late response, my laptop is bean getting virus for over a month. I think it's something to do with my IP address. I might need a new computer.

Anyway... I never seen a real gunlight that had a rectangle lamp and a vertical lazier. Most hand gun munted light/laziers I've seen look like this: Surefire [link] , Streamlight [link] , And a bunch of badly made junk. [link] ( check out the reviews on the last site)

But I gest you were bing more creativ then realistc. It's still a good job.=D

Great concept!
When I first read the book I imagined it as a black gun with the cannon kind of like the front of a car all with holes like a hive from where the darts would come out.
On later re-readings it thought of it kinda like the tranquilizer gun in Perfect Dark.
But the image of all those darts flying and creating little explosions on old man Tessier-Ashpool... awesome!

In all fairness, a Mac-10 with a pepperbox muzzle is what I saw in my head too when I read it.

Actually, all my 3D models are built and rendered in NewTek's Lightwave 3D.
